Firm History
Located in Old Oakland’s historic Dunn’s Building, which served as the western terminus hotel when the “golden spike” was driven to link Eastern and Western states by rail, Miller & Ngo has become part of an even greater link between Asia and the United States and the world. The firm was established in 1989 by founding partner Thomas R. Miller, recent winner of the United Nations Association “Global Citizen” award, who engages with his associates in general practice, personal injury litigation, business law, international law, immigration, non-profit and family law, as well as other areas. Miller & Ngo has also launched IPO’s and established limited partnerships in areas such as food products, micro-brewing, manufacturing, book investments and computer software, and has engaged in book and software packaging and licensing with major publishers and computer hardware manufacturers such as Bantam, Microsoft, Dow Jones, Epson and Kyocera.
In addition to our attorneys, Miller & Ngo is associated with experienced business, cultural and legal specialists active in diverse areas of law, business and global commerce and development. It maintains strategic relations with law firms in Cuba and Vietnam, and sponsors charitable projects through the non-profit Green Cities Fund (www.greencitiesfund.org) and public service advertisements.
“We live in both a diverse local and global community in a time of great change which requires unique solutions to very basic human issues. Our firm strives to help our clients resolve these issues within and outside traditional legal services models. We listen, we learn, we act.”
– Tom Miller
